Saint Petersburg Mining University Special Issue Title: Special Topics on Petroleum Engineering

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to submit articles regarding Topics and Issues in Petroleum Engineering to be published in this Special Issue of International Journal of Engineering. We also welcome critical review articles from renowned experts in the industry and academia. Challenges of petroleum ingineering are considered: from well completion to hydrocarbon processing.

            The Special Issue “Spercial Topics on Petroleum Engineering” covers all key scientific areas that contribute to the development of an effective system for providing innovative technological research in promising areas of petroleum industry, including all steps from geological exploration to the consumption of refineries output.

            Nowadays, traditional petroleum fields are being depleted. New deposits of oil and gas are located in remote and hard-to-reach regions, such as the Arctic, with complex geological and rock characteristics. In addition to complicated conditions of petroleum production in these areas, environmental concerns are of great importance. An urgent challege is the reduction of carbon footprint in oil and gas production. Disposal of waste from the oil refining and petrochemical industries, as well as the use of specially synthesized functional materials for oil and gas engineering, is a strategic task for which a solution must be found. In this regard, the special issue deals with the problems of modern techniques and approaches to the production and use of hydrocarbons.

Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Well construction;
  • Operation and development of oil and gas fields;
  • Design, construction and operation of hydrocarbon transportation and storage systems;
  • Challenges when operating with LNG.
